Recursos para mejorar la comprensión del entorno para personas con TEA

En una inspiradora cooperación entre una estudiante de la Universidad de Erfurt y las terapistas de Cerleco, se puso en marcha un proyecto. El objetivo: acompañar a una persona autista que se había trasladado a un nuevo entorno con su familia. Los retos y la desorientación causados por el nuevo entorno dificultaron que él y su familia puedan adaptarse y orientarse en este.

Junto con las terapistas, se empezaron a desarrollar soluciones creativas para ayudar a la familia mediante apoyos y estructuras visuales para mejorar la comprensión, orientación del entorno y para facilitar acciones cotidianas. Se adaptaron algunas herramientas que transformaron la información verbal en información visual con el objetivo de mejorar la comprensión del entorno, favorecer el desarrollo de la autonomía personal, la flexibilidad y la autorregulación. Partiendo de ideas sencillas como visualizar lugares marcados donde colocar los zapatos, hasta visualizaciones de cómo poner la mesa siguiendo un patrón predefinido.

Gracias a la cooperación e iniciativa de los padres y al compromiso incansable de las terapistas, ya se ha logrado primeros avances. El entorno estructurado y visualizado como ayuda para comprender y actuar en el nuevo entorno vital fue aceptado. Se presentó la información de manera clara y sencilla. Esta ahora está presente en el contexto cotidiano de manera prolongada que por de forma auditiva. La claridad de las situaciones hizo posible estructurar rutinas y actividades de forma autónoma en la vida cotidiana, como también comprender el entorno y regular las emociones. Esta inspiradora colaboración demuestra cómo puede aprovecharse el trabajo en equipo, experiencia y empatía con las necesidades de individuales. Estamos orgullosos de formar parte de este proyecto y esperamos seguir acompañando a esta familia en su camino.

Resources to improve understanding of the environment for people with Autism

In an inspiring cooperation between a student of the University of Erfurt and the therapists of Cerleco, a project was set up. The aim: to accompany an autistic person who had moved to a new environment with his family. The challenges and disorientation caused by the new environment made it difficult for him and his family to adapt and find their way around.

Together with the therapists, creative solutions began to be developed to help the family with visual aids and structures to improve understanding, orientation of the environment and to facilitate everyday actions. Some tools were adapted to transform verbal information into visual information with the aim of improving the understanding of the environment, favouring the development of personal autonomy, flexibility and self-regulation. Starting from simple ideas such as visualising marked places to put shoes, to visualisations of how to set the table following a predefined pattern.

Thanks to the cooperation and initiative of the parents and the tireless commitment of the therapists, initial progress has already been made. The structured and visualised environment as an aid to understanding and acting in the new living environment was accepted. The information was presented in a clear and simple way. This is now present in the everyday context in a prolonged way rather than audibly. The clarity of the situations made it possible to structure routines and activities autonomously in everyday life, as well as to understand the environment and regulate emotions. This inspiring collaboration demonstrates how teamwork, experience and empathy with individual needs can be harnessed. We are proud to be part of this project and hope to continue accompanying this family on their journey

La Facultad de Ciencias de Educación de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador realizó el 23 de marzo del 2004 la Socialización de Experiencias de Vinculación FCIED

Este evento fue todo un éxito. Aquí se pudo presentar el proyecto «Magia con las manos». Este  proyecto es una colaboración entre la Universidad de Erfurt (Alemania) y la PUCE (Ecuador), así como la comunidad sorda de Ecuador, Cerleco y la HHO de Osnarbrück (Alemania). 

En este evento se presentó el proceso, las colaboraciones y el material realizado. También se presentaron dos pósters (Amft y Scheffel), estudiantes de la Universidad de Erfurt. Invitados especiales de San Pedro también hablaron de sus experiencias y se entabló un gran diálogo.

Por último, un cantante sordo cantó y bailó con el público en lengua de señas. Fue un gran intercambio y el evento tuvo muy buena acogida.

The Faculty of Education Sciences of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador held on 23 March 2004 the Socialisation of FCIED Linking Experiences.

This event was a great success. The project ‘Magic with the hands’ was presented. This project is a collaboration between the University of Erfurt (Germany) and the PUCE (Ecuador), as well as the deaf community of Ecuador, Cerleco and the HHO (Osnarbrück-Germany). 

At this event, the process, the collaborations and the material produced were presented. Two posters were also presented. Special guests from San Pedro also spoke about their experiences and a great dialogue ensued.

Finally, a deaf singer sang and danced with the audience in sign language. It was a great exchange and the event was very well received.

We thank all those who participated in this event and in the project ‘magic with hands’.

Comunicación entre continentes mediante el lenguaje de señas

Soy estudiante del Máster en Educación Especial e Inclusiva de la Universidad de Erfurt y estoy acompañando a la terapistas de Cerleco y a un jóven sordo a aprender la lengua de señas ecuatoriana. Hasta hace poco, ¡ni siquiera sabía español ni lengua de señas!

Nos conocemos a través de vídeos sobre tradiciones y experiencias en nuestros países de origen. También creamos juntos tarjetas de lengua de señas, que combinan la seña, el símbolo y la palabra y están pensadas para una comunicación multimodal con las personas del entorno en situaciones cotidianas.

Este proyecto está integrado en el proyecto Magia con las Manos.

Communication between continents through sign language

I am a Master's student in Special and Inclusive Education at the University of Erfurt and I am accompanying the Cerleco therapist and a deaf young man to learn Ecuadorian sign language. Until recently, I didn't even know Spanish or sign language!

We got to know each other through videos about traditions and experiences in our home countries. We are also creating sign language cards together, which combine sign, symbol and word and are designed for multimodal communication with the people around us in everyday situations.

This project is integrated in the Magic with Hands project.

Lengua de señas ecuatoriana: un puente hacia la comunicación

¡Hola a todos! 🖐🏾👐🏽🫶🏽👋🏿🤟🏽 

Somos Jule y Elina, dos estudiantes del Máster de Educación de la Universidad de Erfurt. Actualmente estamos apoyando un emocionante proyecto en Ecuador que gira en torno a Gael, un encantador niño sordo. Junto con las terapistas y los familiares de Gael, estamos aprendiendo el lenguaje de señas  ecuatoriana.

 Nuestro enfoque es tan variado como la vida misma: Decidimos ser creativos. 🎨🎥 Esto significa que no solo creamos vídeos con secuencias de acciones cortas para introducir señas cotidianas, sino que también diseñamos tarjetas adecuadas para el lenguaje de señas. Estas tarjetas combinan la seña, un símbolo y la imagen escrita, lo que permite una comunicación holística y versátil en diversas situaciones cotidianas.

También utilizamos métodos lúdicos para que la adquisición del lenguaje de señas sea lo más cotidiano posible. Después de todo, ¿por qué no iba a ser divertido aprender? Con nuestro enfoque abierto y alegre, no sólo queremos apoyar al niño y a su familia, sino también hacer una contribución positiva.

Estamos felices de continuar este apasionante viaje y nos entusiasma ver lo que nos depara el futuro. Juntos estamos haciendo el mundo un poco más colorido y demostrando que la comunicación no conoce fronteras" 🤟🏾🫶🏽

Ecuadorian Sign Language: A Bridge to Communication

Hello everybody! 🖐🏾👐🏽🫶🏽👋🏿🤟🏽

 We are Jule and Elina, two students of the Master of Education at the University of Erfurt. We are currently supporting an exciting project in Ecuador with Gael, a lovely deaf boy. Together with Gael's therapists and relatives, we are learning Ecuadorian sign language.

Our approach is as varied as life itself: We decided to be creative. 🎨🎥 This means that we not only create videos with short action sequences to introduce daily signs, but we also design cards suitable for sign language. These cards combine the sign, a symbol and the written image, allowing a holistic and versatile communication in various daily situations.

We also use playful methods to make the acquisition of sign language as everyday as possible. After all, why shouldn't learning be fun? With our open and joyful approach, we not only want to support the child and his or her family, but also make a positive contribution.

We are happy to continue this exciting journey and are excited to see what the future holds. Together we are making the world a little more colourful and proving that communication knows no borders." 🤟🏾🫶🏽
